GET TO KNOW ME

I’m Shay, a therapist and coach who works with individuals and couples who are thoughtful, self-aware, and ready for something deeper.

Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck in patterns they can name—but not seem to change. They’ve done the reflecting, the journaling, the talking… and still find themselves in the same cycles in their relationships, their decision-making, or how they relate to themselves.

My work is centered on helping you slow down enough to understand what’s actually happening beneath the surface.

I help clients slow down their internal experience so they can move from automatic patterns into more conscious, intentional ways of relating.

Together, we pay attention not just to what you’re thinking—but to what you’re feeling in your body, how your nervous system is responding, and the deeper patterns shaping your reactions and relationships.

I take an active, relational approach to therapy. That means I’m not just sitting back and listening—I’m engaging with you, reflecting what I see, asking direct questions, and sometimes slowing things down in real time so we can work with what’s actually happening in the moment.

This allows us to move beyond insight alone and into real change.

Over time, this work supports you in:
• feeling more grounded and less reactive
• understanding your emotional responses with more clarity and compassion
• communicating more honestly and effectively
• creating relationships that feel more connected, balanced, and aligned
• making choices from intention rather than fear, pressure, or old patterns

I also deeply value creating a space where you feel seen, respected, and able to show up as your full self. This work isn’t about fixing you—it’s about helping you understand yourself in a way that allows you to move through your life with more freedom, clarity, and connection.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from Wake Forest University.

I’ve worked in both community and private practice settings, supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, identity exploration, and life transitions.

My work is inclusive of diverse identities and relationship structures, including LGBTQ+ clients and non-monogamous relationships.

While my training provides a strong clinical foundation, the heart of my work is helping clients create meaningful, lasting change in how they relate to themselves and others.
